ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Fabrice Somborn moved to the United States from Togo in December 2006. He lives with his family in Silver Spring, Maryland. He started Light of Africa because with a new born, he was really ill and lost his job in 2017, the weight of his family was on his wife's shoulders. He believes that they managed to come out of those hard times because of being in the United States of America. Since then, he made it his mission that women should be given access to medical care and educational opportunities.
In his own words:
"Without my beautiful and strong wife, I would have not been able to be the man I am today. She picked me up and motivated me when I gave up in life and was going through a terrible depression, my
mother, before she passed away, made me promise to never give up on the work I am trying to do and already doing.
So my goal in life now is to educate and provide chances and access for Africans to be able to thrive and raise healthier and stronger children for the future of the continent.
In Africa, we have so much potential but not enough opportunities, I will do my best to bring opportunities on the continent to better the next generations' lives. "
